Listening to my body
This week, I find my body telling me to rest more, slow down and go at a pace that feels more manageable. I’ve been delighted to welcome lots of new clients into my practice this month which is so energising for me. I have learned that when my energy rises it will fall and it’s ok to listen to the signals my body gives me when this happens. AND YET I still feel an urge to push more?!
As the weekend approaches I find myself looking ahead and asking what I really need from the weekend? Part of me is so tempted to fill it with adventures in the areas that surround me. When I sit with this, I can hear my body telling me to slow down, to rest.
I wonder if this resonates with you?
Our body is so wise. It knows before we consciously do, and yet, we spend so much time trying to suppress its natural signals. We all carry different messages around attending to our needs.
For some, they fear burdening others, maybe they don’t want to be selfish? Maybe you get so driven and focused on getting a task done you forget to slow down and check in. Or maybe you don’t notice, you’re doing this because you’ve done it for so long. I even hear some viewing these signals our body sends to us as a flaw.
I wonder how it would feel to take some time just now to sit with yourself.
Let’s pause and take some gentle and deep breaths.
Placing your hands on your lap and feet on the ground beneath you, just notice...
What’s going on within you? Is your body trying to tell you something? Is that something you can attend to? Is it something you need support to attend to?
Whatever you notice I encourage you to practice this often.
